Episode Recap:

On this first episode of the ZoomPod, professional photojournalist Cydney Scott discusses her journey in photography, photojournalism, her work at Boston University, and her passion for creating visual stories. Scott experienced the power of photography after an early exposure to Alfred Eisenstaedt’s famous image, “Puppet Show - The Dragon is Slain” taken in 1963 when Eisenstaedt shot for LIFE Magazine. The photo captures the range of emotions of a group of children at the moment a dragon is slain during a puppet show in a Paris park. With Mr. Eisenstaedt’s inspiration, Cydney specializes in capturing emotions of every day people in on campus and off.

Cydney’s Pro Tips

Go early and stay late, observe the environment, the people in it. Evaluate the lighting. Experiment with different angles and perspectives, and be patient for the right moments to capture. Be chill. Your nervous energy is felt by your subjects.
